Here's everything we have available for the family to use. No tech talk - just what it does and how to use it!
What it does: Watch movies and TV shows
How to use it:
- On TV: Press the Netflix button on the remote
- On tablet/phone: Open the app (red N for Netflix)
- Troubleshooting: If it's slow, restart the TV. If no picture, check internet.
What it does: Watch our personal movie collection
How to use it:
- Go to: movies.speicher.family
- Use your name as username (ask Dad for password)
- Troubleshooting: If movies won't play, text Dad
What it does: Listen to music without ads
How to use it:
- Download green Spotify app
- Sign in with your account
- Troubleshooting: If no music, check internet connection
What it does: Stores all our family photos
How to use it:
- On iPhone/iPad: Open Photos app
- On computer: Go to icloud.com
- Troubleshooting: If photos missing, check internet and wait a bit
What it does: Share photos with specific family members
How to use it:
- In Photos app, tap "Albums" then "Shared"
- To add photos: Tap + button
- Troubleshooting: Make sure you accepted the album invite
What it does: Shows everyone's schedules in one place - hosted by Fastmail
How to use it:
- On phone: Open Calendar app
- Look for these calendars:
- Family (green): Events that affect everyone
- Matthew (blue): Dad's personal schedule
- Kandy (red): Mom's personal schedule
- Culture (purple): Cultural events
- TripIt (green): Travel plans (automatic)
- Lark: Dad's work schedule (can't edit)
- Adding events: Use Family calendar for things that affect everyone
- Troubleshooting: If events missing, wait 15 minutes for sync or pull down to refresh
- For help: See Family Calendar System
What it does: Shared grocery shopping list for the family
How to use it:
- On iPhone/iPad: Open Reminders app
- Look for "Groceries" list (shared with family)
- Tap + to add items, tap circle to check off
- Troubleshooting: If list not showing, make sure you accepted the sharing invite
What it does: Message everyone at once
How to use it:
- Open Messages app
- Look for "Speicher Family" conversation
- Troubleshooting: Make sure notifications are on
What it does: Stores all our family recipes
How to use it:
- Go to: recipes.speicher.family
- Browse or search for recipes
- Troubleshooting: If site won't load, try again later
What it does: Control house temperature
How to use it:
- Use the touchscreen in hallway
- Or use the app on your phone
- Troubleshooting: If not responding, use physical buttons
What it does: Safely stores all passwords
How to use it:
- Download 1Password app
- Use family vault for shared passwords
- Troubleshooting: If locked out, text Dad immediately
What it does: Internet for all devices
Network name: Speicher_5G
Password: (check the card on the fridge)
Troubleshooting: Unplug white box in office for 30 seconds
What it does: Print documents and photos
How to use it:
- Make sure on same WiFi
- Select "HP Office Printer"
- Troubleshooting: Turn printer off and on
What it does: Watch house when away
How to use it:
- Ask Dad to share app access
- Only works on home WiFi
- Troubleshooting: Cameras need internet to work
What it does: Keeps photos safe
How it works:
- Automatic - you don't need to do anything!
- Photos backed up to iCloud and our home server
- Troubleshooting: Keep phone connected to WiFi at night

Try turning it off and on again (seriously, this fixes most things!)

Check if internet is working (try opening a website)

Text Dad with:
- What you were trying to do
- What went wrong
- A photo of any error message
- Streaming not working: Dad
- Calendar issues: Kandace or Dad
- Password problems: Dad (immediately!)
- Printer issues: Dad
- Anything else: Ask in family chat
- All our services are family-friendly and safe
- Kids have appropriate restrictions set up
- Passwords are in the family 1Password vault
- Most services work better on home WiFi
- If something seems broken, it probably just needs a restart
Remember: These are tools to make life easier. If they're making things harder, just ask for help! There's no such thing as a dumb question.
